DAY ONE:  Arrive Mackay  0 kms

Upon arrival at Mackay Airport, you will be greeted by an EagleRider Mackay representative and transferred to your hotel. Explore the unique Mackay City Heart and the famous Pioneer River before we meet this afternoon. Mackay has the feel of a quaint country town but the expansiveness of a buzzing city. Tonight you will get to experience the country town hospitality in one of the oldest pubs in the region with your fellow riders at the EagleRider Mackay Welcome Dinner, then rest up in your motel before kicking off your Reef to Rainforest journey in the morning.

DAY TWO:  Mackay - Airlie Beach 348 kms

This morning you will be transfered to our EagleRider store to pick up your bike. After a short debrief we will head off on a tour of the local area visiting one of the largest coal terminals in the world, spectacular views from Eungella and continue on to the heart of the Whitsundays visiting a local coffee plantation for a relaxing coffee.  Once we arrive in Airlie Beach you will have a chance to leisurely explore the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands.

DAY THREE:  Airlie Beach 0 kms

Today we head out to snorkel the pristine reefs and to have a buffet style lunch on the silica sands of Whitehaven Beach which is recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  This full day tour will give you an appreciation of just how wonderful this area is and will leave you wanting to experience more of what the Great Barrier Reef has to offer!

DAY FOUR:  Airlie Beach - Cardwell 440 kms

Yes we have to say good-bye to our beautiful picturesque Airlie Beach but don’t despair it’s on to bigger and better things.  With a ride that will take us past the biggest Mango in the southern hemisphere and through several cane growing regions to reach our overnight destination – Cardwell. After kicking off your riding boots you can sit back relax on the beach front overlooking the beautiful Hinchinbrook Island

DAY FIVE:  Cardwell - Atherton 195 kms

Today is all about the ride as we travel the Palmerston Highway climbing to the Atherton Tablelands. The locals call it the highway to Heaven. We will also visit Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walkway where you will walk into lush world heritage protected rainforest. Before lunch visit Millaa Millaa Falls. Then onto Malanda and possibly a stop at the Gallo Dairyland for some cheese and chocolate (You may wish to purchase some treats to spoil yourself  later) Once we have indulged we will head onto Atherton for the night.

DAY SIX:  Atherton 100 kms

This morning we visit the Herberton Historic Village where we will go back in time to discover the real Australian pioneer story with fascinating exhibits from across the country.  For lunch we stop at one of the regions iconic pubs – The Tolga Pub. Once finished we will head out to Lake Barrine, a fresh water crater lake, then finish the day with a wander through the main street of Yungaburra, a picturesque village established in the 1890’s

DAY SEVEN:  Atherton - Cairns 190 kms

Today we leave the tablelands heading north through Mareeba and Mt Molloy.

We may visit one of the many coffee plantations along the way. We descend the range towards the coast to Port Douglas where we will stop for lunch. Relax in the hub of this beautiful village, take a stroll and enjoy the variety of world-class restaurants, bars, cafes, boutiques, bookshops and galleries. This afternoon we travel the magnificent Captain Cook Highway  along the shore line to tropical Cairns.

DAY EIGHT:  Cairns 0 kms

We travel from your accommodation for an unforgettable rainforest experience on board Sky Rail Rainforest Cableway. Once among the rainforest we spend the day visiting Red Peak, the Barron Falls and you can explore the village of Kuranda with its many wonderful attractions. Once we have explored all that this village has to offer we will head back to Cairns.

DAY NINE:  Cairns 0 kms

Today is at leisure to rest or enjoy the many attractions far north Queensland has to offer. Perhaps you may wish for an indigenous experience by visiting Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture Park or a day trip to Daintree National Park, a World Heritage Listed Rainforest. Maybe getting up close with crocodiles is more your style – visit Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures or just relax in the Cairns esplanade swimming lagoon set on the foreshore overlooking trinity Inlet.

DAY TEN:  Cairns - Townsville 348 kms

This morning we head south with a detour off the main highway to visit Mena Creek Falls and Paronella Park, a Spanish style castle built in 1935. We will spend some time on a guided walk and learn the history of this fascinating place in the rainforest. Your accommodation in Townsville is located on the beautiful Strand overlooking Magnetic Island.

DAY ELEVEN:  Townsville 0 kms

Take some time today to explore the unofficial “capital of North Queensland” This is a great place to take a relaxing walk along the ocean front strand. Some of the attractions we may see today are Castle Hill lookout, Billabong Sanctuary or maybe try your luck with a roll of the dice at Jupiters Casino. After lunch today we will visit Reef HQ Aquarium.

DAY TWELVE:  Townsville - Mackay 388 kms

Time to start our trek “home” but before we arrive we will take a detour into Bowen.  A quiet little town put on the international map when Nicole Kidman & Hugh Jackman filmed the movie Australia. As we arrive back into Mackay we will be feeling a sense of sadness that the journey has come to an end, but before we all make our way back to “reality” we will give it one last bash and celebrate the miles travelled, the friends made and the sights we’ve seen at our farewell dinner.

DAY THIRTEEN:  Mackay 0 kms

Today your tour will conclude after breakfast. Please let us know if you need an extra night or two in Mackay to enjoy the sites or extend your bike hire to enjoy more of the wonderful things in Mackay .
