  • DAY ONE:  Melbourne 0 kms / 0 mi

You arrive at Melbourne International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Melbourne has been voted as the world's most liveable city.  There are fabulous parks, quirky laneways, restaurants, and cafes and innumerable bars and nightclubs.  In addition, Melbourne is one of the sporting capitals of the world.  Contact us to find out what events are scheduled before you arrive in town. Tonight you will enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your fellow riders before heading off in the morning.
  • DAY TWO:  Mitcham - Echuca  255 kms / 158 mi

This morning you pick up your bike at EagleRider Melbourne and begin your journey heading north into the sun. We are headed to Echuca on the Murray River to a rendezvous with the Paddle steamer Emmylou located at the historic Port of Echuca.  We head out of Melbourne the back way taking in the views of Kangaroo Ground before picking up the old Northern Highway passing through country towns such as Kilmore, Heathcote, Rochester and finally Echuca.
  • DAY THREE:  Echuca - Mildura 298 kms / 185 mi

Today we head north west following the direction of the Murray River along the Murray Valley Highway.  We pass through the towns of Cohuna, Kerang, Swan Hill where we will visit the Pioneer Settlement, Robinvale and finally Mildura. The temperature will be gradually picking up along the way.  We will have time for you to take in the local attractions which include a Historic Wharf,  an extensive Arts Complex and a specialty Brewery located inside the former Astor Theatre.

  • DAY FOUR:  Mildura - Broken Hill 296 kms / 184 mi

Today we leave sunny Mildura and head further north to Broken Hill. Broken Hill is the largest of the Heritage Rail Trail towns, home to some 18,000 people. Its where you'll discover popular community markets, a flourishing cafe (and coffee) culture as well as the kind of comfortable accommodation you'd expect in a city that has been welcoming visitors for generations.  There are many mining attractions and galleries including the Pro Hart Gallery.  We'll visit the edge of the true outback and take a quick trip to the (almost) ghost town of Silverton which among other things is where Mad Max and Mad Max II were filmed. You will be able to visit the Mad Max museum and other historic attractions.

  • DAY FIVE:  Broken Hill - Burra 356 kms / 221 mi

On day 5 we head west from Broken Hill along the Barrier Highway to the historic town Burra in South Australia. The Barrier Highway is single lane each way traveling along the edge of Outback but by the time we reach Burra we will be in the rolling hills of South Australia. Burra is one of the oldest towns in South Australia but instead of turning into a ghost town, the rich heritage of its past has been carefully preserved by the community, resulting in the town being declared a State Heritage Area in 1993.

  • DAY SIX:  Burra - Mildura 334 kms / 207 mi

We will now start heading back home and re visit Mildura.  We will again catch up with the Murray River but this time travel through the beautiful areas of Berri and Renmark.

  • DAY SEVEN:  Mildura - Halls Gap 381 kms / 235 mi

We will now head south along the Sunraysia Highway.  We will travel through towns including Ouyen, Warracknabeal, and Horsham.  From Horsham, we will take the twists and turns of the tourist road to Halls Gap.  Halls Gap is the heart of the Grampians and is surrounded by the Wonderland and Mount William Ranges. It has unusual rock formations‚ waterfalls‚ scenic drives and lookouts. The park is one of Victoria's most beautiful natural attractions. Wander around the area taking in the views and wildlife.
  • DAY EIGHT:  Halls Gap - Mitcham 285 kms / 177 mi

This is our last day as we head out of Halls Gap to pick up the Western Highway.  We travel through towns such as Ararat and the historic Ballarat before taking the final piece of highway back to EagleRider at Mitcham.
