  • DAY ONE:  Mitcham - Echuca  255 kms / 158 mi

This morning you pick up your bike at EagleRider Melbourne and begin your journey heading north into the sun. Your aim will be to reach Echuca on the Murray River in Northern Victoria.  Follow our directions out of Melbourne the back way taking in the views of Kangaroo Ground before picking up the old Northern Highway passing through country towns such as Kilmore, Heathcote, Rochester and finally Echuca.
  • DAY TWO:  Echuca - Mildura 298 kms / 185 mi

Today you will head north west following the direction of the Murray River along the Murray Valley Highway.  Pass through the towns of Cohuna, Kerang and Swan Hill where you can visit the Pioneer Settlement and finally Mildura. The temperature will be gradually picking up along the way.  Take in the local attractions which include an Historic Wharf,  an extensive Arts Complex and a specialty Brewery located inside the former Astor Theatre.

  • DAY THREE:  Mildura - Broken Hill 296 kms / 184 mi

From Mildura head further north to Broken Hill. Broken Hill is the largest of the Heritage Rail Trail towns, home to some 18,000 people. Its where you'll discover popular community markets, a flourishing cafe (and coffee) culture as well as the kind of comfortable accommodation you'd expect in a city that has been welcoming visitors for generations.  There are many mining attractions and galleries including the Pro Art Gallery.  For those who wish to visit the edge of the true outback take a quick trip to the (almost ghost town) of Silverton which among other things is where Mad Max and Mad Max II were filmed.  Visit the Mad Max museum or other historic attractions.

  • DAY FOUR:  Broken Hill - Burra 356 kms / 221 mi

Head west from Broken Hill along the Barrier Highway to the historic town Burra in South Australia. The Barrier Highway is single lane each way travelling along the edge of Outback but by the time you reach Burra you will be in  the rolling hills of South Australia. Burra is one of the oldest towns in South Australia but instead of turning into a ghost town, the rich heritage of its past has been carefully preserved by the community, resulting in the town being declared a State Heritage Area in 1993.

  • DAY FIVE:  Burra - Mildura 334 kms / 207 mi

Start heading back home and re visit Mildura.  Catch up with the Murray River again but this time follow our directions and travel through the beautiful areas of Berri and Renmark.

  • DAY SIX:  Mildura - Halls Gap 381 kms / 235 mi

Head south along the Sunraysia highway.  Travel through towns including Ouyen, Warracknabeal and Horsham.  From Horsham take the twists and turns of the tourist road to Halls Gap.  Halls Gap is the heart of the Grampians and is surrounded by the Wonderland and Mount William Ranges. It has unusual rock formations‚ waterfalls‚ scenic drives and lookouts. The park is one of Victoria's most beautiful natural attractions. Wander around the area taking in the views and wildlife.

  • DAY SEVEN:  Halls Gap - Mitcham 285 kms / 177 mi

This is your last day as you head out of Halls Gap to pick up the Western Highway.  Travel through towns such as Ararat and the historic Ballarat before taking the final stretch of highway back to EagleRider at Mitcham.
